World Aids Day

1 December 2007 was World AIDS Day. The first World AIDS Day was held 20 years ago, but there is still much work to be done in tackling the stigma and prejudice that surrounds HIV.

The Medical Foundation for AIDS and Sexual Health (MedFASH)is a charity supported by the BMA. Dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the healthcare of people affected by HIV, sexually transmitted infections and related conditions, they undertake a range of projects to support health professionalsand policy-makers.

Their values include promoting equity and respect, and combating stigma and discrimination. World AIDS Day provides an annual opportunity to raise awareness of HIV and to challenge the ignorance and stigma which surround it. This year the focus is HIV: Let's get talking about it.
