Consultant contract England - ballot result

The ballot on the consultant contract in England closed today, 20 October, at 10am and the result was that a majority of consultants, a majority of specialist registrars and an overall majority voted in favour of the contract. The following table gives the percentages.

*The turnout figures are approximate. They are based on the original number of ballot forms sent out. Additional papers were sent out, some of these were duplicates for doctors who had not received their original papers, some were sent to new voters.
Dr Paul Miller, the Chairman of the CCSC and Mr Nizam Mamode, Chairman of the CCSC Negotiating Subcommittee, will be writing to all consultants in England today to inform them of the result and to explain the next steps.
