Venue
The 2005 Conference is at Church House in Westminster, London on Wednesday 8 June, commencing at 10.00 am, with registration from 09.00 am. The nearest tube stations are Westminster (on the Jubilee, Circle and District lines) and St James’ Park (on the Circle and District lines). The 211 bus from Waterloo stops in Victoria Street, as do the 11, 24, 88 and 148 buses. A map can be found at the back of this booklet.
Registration
On arrival please go to the Registration Desk in the Dean’s Yard reception area (see the plan in the inside back cover) to collect any tabled papers and your name badge. Spare copies of papers sent in this mailing will also be available. Disabled access to the building is via the entrance in Great Smith Street.
Catering arrangements
Coffee will be served from 9.00am in the Bishop Partridge Hall where you will also find the conference exhibition. Lunch will be provided in the Bishop Partridge and Hoare Memorial Halls, and therefore, need not be claimed for on the expenses form. Please notify us as soon as possible if you have special dietary requirements. Tea and coffee will also be available throughout the day.
Hotels
A booking form was sent in a previous mailing for those representatives who require hotel accommodation.
The form should be faxed to the booking agency, PHR, on 0845 345 2666, not to the BMA. You can also contact them directly on 0845 345 2333 or e-mail them on enq@phrplc.com. Overnight stays should only be undertaken when it is necessary to attend a meeting on successive days or when it would be necessary to leave home before 6.30am or arrive back home from the meeting later than 11.00pm.
Expenses
Representatives are entitled to be reimbursed for first class travel to and from the Conference and to allowances of up to £125.00 for an overnight stay and £45 for dinner. Representatives are asked to obtain the cheapest available ticket for the journey. Receipts must be supplied in all cases. Members are requested to hand in their claims for travelling expenses and subsistence at the Registration Desk.
Conduct of business
The business of the meeting is conducted in accordance with the Standing Orders. A guide to the conduct of business follows. Speakers are asked to indicate their intention to speak by completing a Speaker’s Slip and submitting it to the Agenda Committee on the day of the Conference. Speaker’s Slips are enclosed with this mailing.
You will also find enclosed slips for the Officers’ Question Time. Please complete these as soon as possible to submit a question for the officers of the CCSC.
Nomination forms for the election of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Conference 2006, and members of the Conference Agenda Committee for 2006 are enclosed with the other Conference papers and spare copies of the forms will be available at the Registration Desk on the day.
Conference dinner
This will be held at One Great George Street, a short walk from the conference venue. Places have to be reserved in advance with the form issued in the previous mailing. Please send your form in as soon as possible and, in any event, not later than 3 June. The address to send it to is on the form.
